Aphrodite and Beauty and Red Rose - a guest post by Kat Holmes

First off I want to thank Eve for inviting me. It’s an honor to be here. Hello everyone my name is Kat Holmes and I write erotic romances. So far I have two books out with Red Rose and a third about to release. I also have three more in the pipeline with Red Rose and one in the works with Muse It Hot.

I am so blessed to be able to write and share with all of you my passion for stories. This was a passion sowed in me when I was very young by my Mom. I love how words mesh together to form a picture in our minds. It’s like a painting only the canvas is paper and the paint is words.

I have always written but it was only ever for my own pleasure. Then, back in 2002 I began to have very serious convulsive seizures. I have always been epileptic but I’d always had the small ones. But now I was having what they call Grand Mal seizures. Medications did nothing to control them and since I was having several a day, working became too difficult.

So I wound up having a lot of time on my hands and began writing even more. Then I started communicating with an author named N.J. Walters and she encouraged me to try submitting my stuff. When your writing hero tells you to do something, you listen. So I submitted and was rejected. I submitted a new story to a different publisher and was rejected.

But then one day I happened on a website for e-books called Red Rose Publishing and saw they had a line called Autumn Rose. The line was for stories about older women and younger men. Immediately a whole idea for a story flashed in my mind. I wrote it and submitted it to them. And it was contracted! That was a year ago and the rest is as they say history.

Amazingly, one of the stories I had subbed to another house that had been rejected was contracted by Red Rose and is the first story in a brand new series called Gods At Work. Book one in the series was released May 6th of this year and actually made the bestseller list which totally surprised and thrilled me. It’s called Working Under Covers.

Book two in the series, titled Heart Of The Queen, is all done and is due to release soon though I don’t have the exact date yet. The covers for both of my Gods At Work books were done by the very talented Missy Lyons. My very first book with Red Rose, which isn’t part of this series and is a short stand alone tale released on March 18, 2010 and is called Voice In The Night.

All I can say is I am having a blast. It’s wonderful to be able to do what you love. And to be able to share my love of storytelling with all of you is paradise. And now, let me share a brief blurb about Working Under Covers with you.

The economic crunch is affecting everyone nowadays, even the Gods of Mt. Olympus. Tributes are way down and Zeus isn't happy. He decrees that each and every god must go out into the mortal realm and get jobs.

Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty decides to set up shop in Los Angeles, California. She opens her own Internet Dating service called Venus Connections and hides her true identity by taking on the name Ariel Schell.

Jordan Cade, retired cop turned private investigator is roped by his former boss into tackling one last undercover assignment. Three women have gone missing and the only thing that links them is an Internet dating service called Venus Connections.

All Jordan wants is to find the missing women. All Aphrodite wants is to earn a living. But the Fates have other plans. Now a mortal man and an immortal Goddess must overcome their vast differences. A little under the covers work might be needed.

And here is a blurb for Heart Of The Queen.

When money troubles force the Gods to come and work among mortals, Hera decides to become a midwife and takes the name of Heather Juno. By chance, two stunning men named James Rhodes and Noah Blake come into her office to help out James’s sister. The men are lovers but they want to add Hera to their family. Divorced from a husband who spent thousands of years cheating on her, Hera is extremely reluctant in spite of being attracted to both men. James and Noah, veterans of Iraq are used to fighting for what they want and they are not about give Hera up. The battle is on for The Heart Of The Queen.

I Want To Know What Love Is

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS
a contemporary romance by Eve Summers

Amy doesn't know what it feels like to be in love. Which is pretty sad, when you stop to think about it, and Amy stops to think about it - oh, just about every day. Her fantasies are populated by men who look like movie stars and act like heroes from romance books, while her life is full of men who only think about their careers and who wear stress like a medal for bravery.

Or was, until now. Dan is Amy’s scuba diving buddy and the best-looking bloke in the office. Zorro, their Tahitian diving instructor is every woman’s secret fantasy, the kind you blush about in the darkness of your bedroom and never ever discuss with your girlfriends.

Amy doesn't know what it feels like to be in love. Will she choose the right man?

Excerpt (R16):

Amy felt her cheeks roast under his gaze. It was one thing to flirt with him back at the village to the rhythm of the wild drums, quite another to flirt when she’d already accepted his invitation to a night of hot sex.

“You look lovely in pink, Goldilocks.”

He gestured towards her salmon–rose cocktail dress, but she knew he meant the blush that had now spread all the way to her throat.

She needed a diversion.

“Tell me about the boat’s engine.” Men could always be distracted with machine talk.

“Are you asking about the size?”

Damn! The cursed blush was back. Don’t think about it.

“Why don’t you show me the bridge? Or the steering room, whatever it’s called.”

His face was deadpan. “It’s called a cockpit.”

It would be.

Zorro kissed her as soon as they reached the cockpit, a perfect mix of urgency and deliberately slow relishing. His tongue tasted of seawater and fire.

Amy felt her nipples strain against the thin material of her dress. She didn’t care whether it was love or lust she was feeling, she didn’t need labels or perfect definitions of what love was. All she needed was Zorro’s body pressed against hers, like this, and his hands in her hair, like they were now, and–

He broke the kiss and Amy opened her eyes.

Bingo!

There, on a side table, in a silver ice bucket, was a bottle of champagne. Zorro’s words came back to her: Now that I’m no longer your instructor, how about a bottle of champagne on my boat, followed by a sunset dinner and a night of hot lovemaking?

A bottle of champagne? Check.

Boat? Check.

With a bit of luck, they would skip the sunset dinner and…

“Would you like to drive?” she heard Zorro’s whisper, she felt his tickling breath in her ear.

“Huh? Oh, your boat, you mean. Yeah, sure.”

All her senses ablaze, she watched as Zorro awakened the purring machine.

“Here, take the wheel. Gentle movements.”

She looked at the controls for the first time, expecting something the magnitude of an average car’s steering wheel. “Zorro,” she exclaimed, “this is enormous.”

“Yeah,” came the smooth reply. “I get that all the time.”

Guest Post by Jane Beckenham

Hello… are you out there?

When I was thinking about what to write for this guest blog…well the idea bank was a tad empty, and that is par for the course at the moment. My muse had shut up shop and gone for a holiday. – Lucky girl. Actually, I’ve often wondered if others ‘envision’ their Muse. Do they give her an identity?

I have, and before you roll your eyes and wonder if this downunder author has gone loco since she’s upside down, the answer, yes, just a little bit.
My Muse is just called Muse, or ‘Her’, or when she’s silent, like right now, the gal is called…’bloody talk woman’.

She may not have a real name, but she has a ‘look’. She’s blond – and I’m a would be blond. She’s tall and slim of course and I’m…well, not. And she has this smile, sort of beatific, which really suits her because her home is a cloud.

Yes. Really. When I talk to her, I see her standing on the edge of her puff ball cloud, white of course, none of that grey stuff, threatening to spit out rain or worse, hail or snow. But she stands there, waving at me, smiling, though it’s when she’s not standing there, or not smiling that fear seeps into my subconscious and I find myself scrambling for ideas for the next book.

Ms. Muse is rather judicious with what she gives me and when which is really annoying. I mean she’s MY muse, why can’t she do what I want her to. I mean I invented her.

Right now the woman is SILENT. Deadly silent, which is just as well since I’m taking a breather from novel writing. Yes, I’m having a LIFE. Rather unique really, but I do miss my daily grind at the computer, writing the lives and loves of my characters. Oh, how I miss it.

However, I suppose Ms. Muse deserves a break. The woman has been hard at it for weeks, months, actually, truth be told...for years. I’ve just contracted my 12th book.

My coming release (May 25th) - He’s the One (Samhain Publishing) was a Muse job. The woman had me thinking way into the small hours about a reunion story. What if she nearly once got married, then didn’t? What if she feels guilty because she didn’t love her fiancé? What if she’s a wedding planner whose clients ask her about their sex problems? What if she’s a virgin?
Enter Cade Harper, one sexy dude. Actually, the man appeared for real one day when I was ‘doing’ lunch with none other than author Ms. Summers here who owns this blog. Remember!!! The man with the red Mustang? [Footnote: Eve Summers remembers only too well, LOL]

Cade Harper knows two things about women. They either abandon him, or use him as a walking bank. He doesn’t do commitment, and marriage is a dirty word—witness the string of broken hearts he’s left in his wake. Yet what if Taylor proposes an introduction to sex – a night of no-strings passion - for some business advice for this up and coming businessman?

Lots of questions Ms Muse throws at me.

It was up to me to come up with the answers – and a warning: He’s the One contains explicit, straight-to-the-heart sex between a hopeless romantic heroine and an abandon-all-hope hero. No need to dress up for this party—just curl up with a glass of bubbly and a box of tissues! LOL.

So yes, Ms Muse has a place in my heart, I just hope she doesn’t stay away too long this time or I’ll have to send out a search party.

If you see Ms. Muse in your wanderings, can you tell her to get her butt right on home this instant.

Happy reading and writing everyone.
