After You

"After you" by Jojo Moyes is a sequel to "Me before you", continuing the story of Louise Clark. It's a beautiful book, written woth heart and sensitivity...

... and yet, I found myself putting the book down after a few pages, and not really feeling compelled to pick it up again. Perhaps it was the mood of the book that got me down, perhaps the pacing was off. An easy read I found hard.

Still, an important book for those who want to know what happened to Louisa.

Finding Dory

Although it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, it's much better if you remember what happened in "Finding Nemo". "Dory" is very much a sequel, heartwarming and fun, but it doesn't have the freshness and the humour of "Nemo".

A cool family film, and a tear-jerker for parents. Not a first-date movie, though.

Men, Women & Children - movie

Men, Women & Children is a weird movie. Extremely explicit. Too honest. Uncomfortable. Depressing and uplifting. A perfect commentary on today's life.

Shopaholic to the Rescue

Shopaholic to the Rescue is a continuation of Shopaholic to the Stars - it actually feels like one biggish book split into two. As usual, Becky is a bit exasperating and a lot of fun, and the ending gives you the lovely warm-and-fuzzy feeling.

I just wish Sophie Kinsella wrote more Madeleine Wickham books.

Lucifer (TV)

I'm in two minds as to whether to carry on with this TV series beyond the first episode. Don't get me wrong, it's entirely watchable.The premise is intriguing for anybody who likes a bad boy: Lucifer is sick of hell, so he comes to live in Los Angeles and ends up helping the police department solve crimes, He has a cool superpower: people tell him their most secret desires. Except this superpower doesn't work on the police detective, which makes this a perfect setup for romantic tension.

Still, episode one didn;t give me any impression of a bigger story. Sure, those in power want him back in hell where he is needed. But the whole thing has a formulaic feel to it.

Happy to be proved wrong.
